Mark's ring
Friends with personal sites. Previous, next, random, the way it used to work.
A webring is a loop of personal sites. Each one carries three links: previous, next, and random. Follow them and you walk the loop. This one is friends of mine who still keep a site of their own.

Nobody yet. The first few invitations are going out now.
Walk it: random site. Subscribe to everyone: members.opml. Machine readable: ring.json.
Join
The ring is invitation based, so there is no form. If we know each other and you have a personal site, send me a note with:
- your site’s URL
- a one line description
- your RSS or Atom feed, if you have one
- an 88x31 button (see below)
You get a slug back. Put it in the snippet, paste the snippet somewhere on your site, and you are in.
The snippet
Works with JavaScript off. The script upgrades the links into a small banner with the ring’s name and size. Replace your-slug.
<kinring-banner ring="https://markkropf.com/ring" member="your-slug">
<p>Member of <a href="https://markkropf.com/ring">Mark's ring</a></p>
<a href="https://markkropf.com/ring/prev?from=your-slug" rel="nofollow">Previous</a>
<a href="https://markkropf.com/ring/random?from=your-slug" rel="nofollow">Random</a>
<a href="https://markkropf.com/ring/next?from=your-slug" rel="nofollow">Next</a>
</kinring-banner>
<script async src="https://markkropf.com/ring/embed.js"></script>Plain links
If you would rather style it yourself. Keep ?from=so previous and next know where you are.

88 by 31 pixels. The size is from 1996 and it is still the size. Send a GIF, PNG, WebP, or SVG, and if you can, the same image at 176 by 62 for high density screens. Animated GIFs are welcome. Keep it under 50 KB.

How it works
The ring is served by kinring, an open source library I wrote for this. Members live in this site’s CMS; the three links redirect through here. If you want to run your own ring, the README has everything, including a plain JSON mode that needs no database.
